On the 80th anniversary of Holocaust Memorial Day, Alison Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, commemorated the day and pledged to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered in the Holocaust.
Alison explained,
Monday, 27th January, is Holocaust Memorial Day, marking the liberation of the infamous former Nazi concentration and death camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau.
2025 is a significant anniversary year: it marks 80 years since the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps of Europe.
This is an important opportunity for people from across Bognor Regis and Littlehampton to reflect on the darkest times of European history.
I pledge to remember the six million Jewish men, women and children who were murdered in the Holocaust. I will speak out against all forms of antisemitism, which in recent months have risen exponentially and need to be tackled head on.
I signed the Holocaust Educational Trust's Book of Commitment to honour those who were murdered during the Holocaust, and to pay tribute to the extraordinary Holocaust survivors who work tirelessly to educate young people today.
