Alison Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, spoke out during a question to the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions following the cut to the Winter Fuel Allowance.
Alison is incredibly concerned by the Government's decision which will see more than 23,000 people across Bognor Regis and Littlehampton lose their winter fuel allowance.
During questions to the Secretary of State, Alison challenged the Government again over their plans, asking whether it was fair that someone who has paid tax all their working life will now be taxed on their state pension as well as losing their winter fuel allowance.
Speaking in the Commons, Alison explained,
"In Bognor Regis and Littlehampton more than 23,000 people have lost their winter fuel allowance—more than 90% of former claimants. Does the Secretary of State think that it is fair that someone who has paid tax all their working life will now be taxed on their state pension as well as losing their winter fuel allowance?"
