Alison Griffiths, Member of Parliament for Bognor Regis and Littlehampton, spoke out in the Commons during questions to the Secretary of State for Business and Trade.
Since Alison's election to Parliament, she has spoken to a number of businesses across our area to understand the impact the Budget and Employment Rights Bill will have on them. Their message? A recipe for higher prices, higher inflation, higher interest rates and higher unemployment.
The Secretary of State says businesses should be confident, but when they’re being hammered with more regulation and higher costs, how can they be?
In the Commons, Alison said,
"Businesses in Bognor Regis and Littlehampton are at the sharp end of the Bank of England’s business confidence survey. Unlike the Chancellor and the Secretary of State, they know that her Budget and the Employment Rights Bill are a recipe for higher prices, higher inflation, higher interest rates and higher unemployment. Is that the growth that the Secretary of State had in mind?"
